To name the start-up company and create a brand identity that would resonate throughout the clothing line’s aesthetic.
The start-up company wanted to create an urban apparel line that was more about substance and meaning rather than purely style and aesthetic. “Pen&Paper” was coined to reflect that immediate desire to collaborate the consumer in creating a message that both company and consumer believed in. The logomark is an inverted and flipped ampersand which was chosen to allude to the fact that there’s complex beauty in the everyday, but also to encourage those who interacted with the brand to look at a fairly common mark in a new way.
